Fuel Injector (For Port Injection)
REMOVAL1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH
6. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH
HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.
7. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH
8. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH
HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.
9. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
10. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
11. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
12. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
13. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
14. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
15. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
16. DISCONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
17. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
18. REMOVE THROTTLE WITH MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY
19. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
a. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the intake air surge tank.
b. Remove the bolt and No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly from the intake air surge tank.
c. Disconnect the ventilation hose, union to check valve hose and water by-pass hose from the intake air surge tank.
d. Disconnect the 4 wire harness clamps from the intake air surge tank.
e. Remove the bolt and water hose joint from the intake air surge tank.
f. Remove the bolt and disconnect the surge tank stay from the intake air surge tank.
g. Using a 5 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the 6 bolts, 2 nuts and gasket.
20. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Pinch and pull the fuel tube connector to disconnect the connector from the delivery pipe sub-assembly.
NOTE:
- Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the pipe and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the pipe and connector.
- Do not use any tools to separate the pipe and connector.
- Do not forcefully bend or twist the nylon tube.
- Check for any dirt and foreign matter on the pipe seal surface. Clean if necessary.
- Put the pipe and connector ends in plastic bags to prevent damage and dirt contamination.
- If the pipe and connector are stuck together, pinch the tube between your fingers and turn it carefully to free it. Then disconnect the tube.
b. Disconnect the 6 injector connectors and 2 clamps.
c. Remove the 4 bolts and fuel delivery pipe subassembly.
NOTE: When removing the delivery pipe, hold the pipe by both ends and pull it straight upward.
d. Remove the 4 delivery pipe spacers from the intake manifold.
21. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 6 fuel injectors from the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
NOTE: For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.
b. Remove the 2 O-rings from the fuel injector assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Apply gasoline to 2 new O-rings and install them to the injector.
NOTE: Check that there is no damage or foreign material in the groove of the injector when installing the injector's O-rings.
b. Install the fuel injector assemblies to the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.
NOTE:
- When the injector does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched. Remove the injector and install a new O-ring to the injector.
- Make sure that the injector is located within the plastic stopper range as shown in the illustration.
2. INSTALL FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the 4 delivery pipe spacers to the intake manifold.
b. Install the delivery pipe sub-assembly (with injector) to the intake manifold.
NOTE: When the injector does not rotate smoothly, the O-ring may be pinched. Remove the injector and install a new O-ring to the injector.
c. Install the fuel injector assembly to the fuel delivery pipe sub-assemblies with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 17 N.m (173 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
d. Connect the 6 injector connectors and 2 clamps.
e. Push in the fuel tube connector to the delivery pipe sub-assembly and push up the retainer to engage the claws.
NOTE:
- Check for damage or foreign objects on the connected part.
- After connecting, check that the fuel tube connector and the pipe are securely connected by pulling on them.
f. After connecting the fuel tube, align the paint marks on the delivery pipe.
3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK
a. Install a new gasket to the intake air surge tank.
b. Install the intake air surge tank with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 16 N.m (163 kgf.cm, 12 ft.lbf)
c. Using a 5 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the 6 bolts.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
d. Install the surge tank stay to the intake air surge tank with the bolt.
Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
e. Install the water hose joint to the intake air surge tank with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)
f. Connect the 4 wire harness clamps to the intake air surge tank.
g. Connect the ventilation hose, union to check valve hose and water by-pass hose to the intake air surge tank.
h. Install the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly to the intake air surge tank with the bolt.
Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
i. Connect the vacuum hose to the intake air surge tank.
4. INSTALL THROTTLE W/MOTOR BODY ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. CONNECT NO. 2 VENTILATION HOSE
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
9. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE
10. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKAGE
11. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
13. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
14. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
15. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH
16. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH
17. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH
18. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH
HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.
19. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
20. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
21. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
22. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
23. CHECK FUNCTION OF THROTTLE BODY
24. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization, Programming and Relearning.
HINT: Certain systems need to be initialized after reconnecting the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
