Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair

EXTENSION HOUSING REAR OIL SEAL

Components:

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE NO.1 REAR FLOOR PANEL BRACE
2. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE
3. REMOVE OXYGEN SENSOR
4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE OUTSIDE AIR GUIDE PLATE RH
6. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO.1 HEAT INSULATOR
7. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY
8. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

a) Remove the drain plug, the gasket, and drain the ATF.
b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.)

9. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY

a) Using SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.

HINT: Move the shift lever to the P position.

b) Attach the SST
SST 09330-00021, 09950-30012 (09955-03040)

c) Using SST and a 30 mm socket wrench, remove the nut.
d) Remove the SST
e) Tap the output flange with a plastic hammer to remove it.

f) Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the automatic transmission flange yoke.

10. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXTENSION HOUSING OIL SEAL

a) Using SST, remove the oil seal.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION EXTENSION HOUSING OIL SEAL
a) Coat the lip of a new oil seal with MP grease.

b) Using SST and a hammer, drive in the oil seal with the lip facing inside of the automatic transmission.
SST 09316-60011 (09316-00011, 09316-00051)
Oil seal depth from flat end: 1.8 to 2.2 mm (0.071 to 0.087 inch)

2. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLANGE YOKE ASSEMBLY

a) Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
SST 09517-36010
b) Install the automatic transmission flange yoke.
c) Attach the SST.
SST 09330-00021, 09950-30012 (09955-03040)

d) Using SST and a 30 mm socket wrench, install and tighten a new nut.
Torque: 126 Nm (1,285 kgf-cm, 93 ft. lbs.)
e) Using a chisel and hammer, securely stake the nut.

3. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO.1 HEAT INSULATOR
5. REMOVE OUTSIDE AIR GUIDE PLATE RH
6. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR
8. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE
9. INSTALL NO.1 REAR FLOOR PANEL BRACE
10. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
11. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
