Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly:
FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
2. REMOVE SEAT BELT ANCHOR COVER CAP
a. Hook a screwdriver to part A to bend it toward the inside of the cabin and release the claws. Pull the seat belt anchor cover cap RH upward and remove it.
NOTE: Do not damage the seat belt.
3. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. for Driver seat:
1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the floor end of the front seat outer belt assembly.
b. for Passenger seat:
1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the floor end of the front seat outer belt assembly.
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
6. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
7. REMOVE UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
8. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the nut and disconnect the shoulder anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly.
9. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly.
10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, pull out the locking button in the direction shown by the arrow to release the lock, and disconnect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Disconnect the connectors.
c. Remove the 2 bolts and the front seat outer belt assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. Check the degree of tilt when the ELR begins to lock.
1. Check that the belt does not lock at less than 15° of tilt in any direction but locks at over 45° of tilt while gently pulling the belt.
NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
b. Temporarily install the front seat outer belt assembly with the 2 bolts.
c. Fully tighten the upper side bolt first, then the lower side bolt to install the front seat outer belt assembly.
Torque: for Upper bolt 7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) for Lower bolt 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
d. Connect the pretensioner connector and lock the locking button as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Securely lock the locking button.
e. Connect the connectors.
2. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Install the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
3. CONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. Install the shoulder anchor of the front seat outer belt assembly with the nut.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
4. INSTALL UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
5. INSTALL LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
6. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
8. CONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. for Driver seat:
1. Install the floor end of the front seat outer belt assembly with the bolt.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
b. for Passenger seat:
1. Install the floor end of the front seat outer belt assembly with the bolt.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
c. Check if the ELR locks.
NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt assembly installed.
1. With the belt assembly installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
9. INSTALL SEAT BELT ANCHOR COVER CAP
a. Engage the 7 claws to install the seat belt anchor cover cap.
10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
NOTE: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
12. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
