Introduction

Some 2007 model year LS 460 or LS 460L vehicles may exhibit a rattle or squeak noise from the engine compartment while idling. This may be caused by one or both of the engine idler pulleys. The engine idler pulleys have been updated to correct this condition. Please use the following repair procedure to address customer concerns.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*
This repair is covered under the Lexus Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.









Repair Procedure

1. Verify that the rattle or squeak noise is heard from the No. 1 and/or No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly.

2. Remove the drive belt.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2007 model year LS 460 Repair Manual, Engine/Hybrid System - Engine Mechanical - "1UR-FSE Engine Mechanical: Drive Belt: Removal".





3. Remove and replace the No.1 idler pulley sub-assembly.

Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbs)





4. Remove and replace the No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly.

Torque: 43 N.m (438 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbs)

5. Install the drive belt.

6. Test drive to verify repair
