Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUBASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
6. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
7. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
9. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT
10. DISCONNECT OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE
(a) Disconnect the bolt and dipstick guide.
11. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
12. DISCONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the No. 5 water by-pass hose.
13. DISCONNECT WATER INLET HOSE
(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the water inlet hose.
14. DISCONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the No. 3 water bypass hose.
15. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING
(a) Remove the 3 bolts, water inlet housing and gasket.
16. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY
(a) Using SST, hold the water pump pulley.
SST 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000)
(b) Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.
17. REMOVE WATER PUMP
(a) Remove the 9 bolts, water pump and gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL WATER PUMP
(a) Install the water pump and gasket with the 9 bolts as shown the illustration.
Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) for bolt A
23 N*m (235 kgf*cm, 17 ft.*lbf) for bolt B
47 N*m (479 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf) for bolt C
2. INSTALL WATER PUMP PULLEY
(a) Temporarily install the pulley with the 4 bolts.
(b) Using SST, hold the pulley and tighten the 4 bolts.
SST 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000)
Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
3. INSTALL WATER INLET HOUSING
(a) Install a new gasket to the water pump.
(b) Install the water inlet housing with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
4. CONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the No. 3 water by-pass hose.
5. CONNECT WATER INLET HOSE
(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the water inlet hose.
6. CONNECT NO. 5 WATER BY-PASS HOSE
(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to connect the No. 5 water by-pass hose.
7. CONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE
8. CONNECT OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE
(a) Connect the dipstick guide with the bolt.
Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)
9. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT
10. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
11. INSTALL RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
13. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
14. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUBASSEMBLY
15. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
16. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
17. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK
18. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
