AIR CONDITIONING UNIT (for Front Side)

REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM
2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

4. REMOVE TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the bolt.
b. Remove plate, as shown in the illustration.




c. Disconnect the suction tube and liquid tube.

NOTE:
- Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the tube.
- Seal the opening of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.

d. Remove the 2 O-rings from the suction tube and liquid tube.

5. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE




a. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip.
b. Disconnect the heater water inlet hose.

6. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE

HINT: Disconnection of the heater water outlet hose is the same as for the heater water inlet hose.

7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD
a. Remove the instrument panel safety pad.

8. REMOVE AIR DUCT




a. Remove the bolt.
b. Detach the 2 claws and remove the duct.

9. REMOVE AIR DUCT




a. Remove the screw.
b. Detach the 2 claws and remove the duct.

10. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the steering column.

11. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the windshield wiper motor.

12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect the clamps, connectors and wire harness.
b. Remove the bolts and nuts, and disconnect the ground wire and junction block.
c. Remove the 9 bolts and 2 screws.




d. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 "TORX" bolts (passenger side) and 3 bolts (driver side).

HINT: The "TORX" bolts on the passenger side can be removed with the collar for adjustment.

e. Passenger side:
Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 2 collars and instrument panel reinforcement with spacer.

13. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT




a. Remove the nut and air conditioning unit.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY




a. Install the air conditioning unit with the nut.

Torque: 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY




a. Install the instrument panel reinforcement with spacer.
b. Using a T40 "TORX" socket, install the 2 "TORX" bolts (passenger side) and 3 bolts (driver side).

Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

c. Passenger side:
Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, install the 2 collars.

Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)




d. Install the 9 bolts and 2 screws.
e. Install the ground wires and junction block with the bolts and nuts.
f. Attach the clamps and connectors to the wire harness.

3. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Install the windshield wiper motor.

4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
a. Install the steering column.

5. INSTALL AIR DUCT




a. Attach the 2 claws to install the duct.
b. Install the screw.

6. INSTALL AIR DUCT




a. Attach the 2 claws to install the duct.
b. Install the bolt.

Torque: 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

7. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD
a. Install the instrument panel safety pad.

8. CONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE




a. Connect the water hose and attach the clip.

9. CONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the water outlet hose.

10. CONNECT TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the pipe.
b. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to 2 new O-rings and the fitting surface of the suction tube and liquid tube.

Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent

c. Install the 2 O-rings on the suction tube and liquid tube.
d. Connect the suction tube and liquid tube.

HINT: After the connection, check that the claw of the piping clamp is engaged.

e. Install the plate with the bolt.

Torque: 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
12. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
13. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
14. ADD COMPRESSOR OIL
15. CHARGE REFRIGERANT
16. WARM UP ENGINE
17. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
18. CHECK FOR LEAKAGE OF REFRIGERANT
19. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.

20. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
