Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly

Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly:




DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING
5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER
6. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the control cable.
b. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the lock lever.
c. Remove the 4 bolts and driver side knee airbag.
d. Disconnect the connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Connect the connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

b. Install the driver side knee airbag with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 in.lbf)

c. Attach the claw to install the lock lever.
d. Install the control cable.

2. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER
7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING
8. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
9. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

12. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
