Front Passenger Airbag Assembly:
FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT: Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY".
3. REMOVE SIDE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
4. REMOVE SIDE NO. 2 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
5. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
7. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the instrument panel wire from the front passenger airbag.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
b. Remove the 2 screws.
c. Disengage the 5 hooks (A).
d. Disengage the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag from the instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Engage the 5 hooks (A).
b. Engage the 5 hooks (B) and install the front passenger airbag on the instrument panel.
c. Install the 2 screws.
d. Connect the 2 connectors and install the instrument panel wire assembly to the front passenger airbag.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
2. INSTALL NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
3. INSTALL DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL SIDE NO. 1 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
5. INSTALL SIDE NO. 2 DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT
6. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUBASSEMBLY
HINT: Refer to the procedures from "INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY".
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
9. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Check the SRS warning light.
