REMOVAL

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

NOTICE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
4. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the seat cushion for power seat.
(b) Remove the seat cushion for ottoman.
5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

6. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY CENTER (for Power Seat)
7. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the seatback for power seat.
(b) Remove the seatback for ottoman.
8. REMOVE REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (for Ottoman)
9. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Remove the seatback for power seat.
(b) Remove the seatback for ottoman.
10. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY CENTER (for Power Seat)
11. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (for Fixed Seat Type)
12. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY (for Fixed Seat Type)
13. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR





14. REMOVE REAR WHEEL HOUSE LH LINER
(a) Remove the 3 screws, 11 nuts and 2 clips from the liner.
15. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
(a) Remove the scuff plate for standard body.
(b) Remove the scuff plate for long body.
16. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

17. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH
(a) Remove the garnish for standard body.
(b) Remove the garnish for long body.
18. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

19. REMOVE ROOF SIDE GARNISH INNER LH
(a) Remove the side garnish for standard body.
(b) Remove the side garnish for long body.
20. REMOVE ROOF SIDE GARNISH INNER RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

21. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY
22. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH
23. REMOVE LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET
24. DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH
25. DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH
26. DISCONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
27. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH NUT





28. REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER CAP LH
(a) Remove the 3 nuts and cap.





29. REMOVE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 3 nuts on the upper side of the shock absorber.





(b) Remove the nut from the shock absorber lower side.
(c) Angle the axle carrier's upper tip toward the vehicle's outer side, and remove the shock absorber.

DISASSEMBLY

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.





1. REMOVE REAR SUPPORT TO REAR SHOCK ABSORBER LH NUT
(a) Install SST to the rear coil spring so that the distance between the upper and lower hooks is as wide as possible within the installation area.
SST 09727-30021 (09727-00010, 09727-00021, 09727-00031)
(b) Compress the rear coil spring until it can be moved freely.

NOTICE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.

HINT: The rear coil spring can also be compressed using a hydraulic spring compressor.

(c) Remove the nut.
2. REMOVE REAR SUPPORT TO REAR SHOCK ABSORBER LH COLLAR
(a) Remove the collar from the shock absorber.
3. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the suspension support assembly with the insulator upper from the shock absorber.
4. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING INSULATOR UPPER LH
(a) Remove the insulator upper from the suspension support.
5. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING LH
(a) Remove the coil spring from the shock absorber.
6. REMOVE REAR COIL SPRING INSULATOR LOWER LH
(a) Remove the insulator lower from the shock absorber.

INSPECTION





1. INSPECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Extend and compress the rear shock absorber.
(1) When extending and compressing the rear shock absorber at a constant speed, it can be moved without any abnormal resistance or noise and load is constant through the entire stroke. It also extends at a constant speed after being compressed.
If there is any abnormality, replace the rear shock absorber with a new one.

NOTICE: When disposing of the rear shock absorber, see DISPOSAL.

REASSEMBLY

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.





1. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING INSULATOR LOWER LH
(a) Install the rear coil spring insulator lower to the rear shock absorber so that both recessed parts are aligned.





2. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING LH
(a) Using SST, compress the coil spring.
SST 09727-30021 (09727-00010, 09727-00021, 09727-00031)

NOTICE: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.





(b) Install the coil spring so that the end comes to the stepped portion of the coil spring insulator lower.





3. INSTALL REAR COIL SPRING INSULATOR UPPER LH
(a) Align the bolt of the rear suspension support and the cutout of the rear coil spring insulator, and install the rear coil spring insulator on the rear suspension support.
(b) Align the width across flat of the piston rod end and of the rear suspension support to install the rear shock absorber.
4. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the suspension support assembly with the insulator upper to the shock absorber.
5. INSTALL REAR SUPPORT TO REAR SHOCK ABSORBER LH COLLAR
(a) Install the collar to the shock absorber.
6. INSTALL REAR SUPPORT TO REAR SHOCK ABSORBER LH NUT
(a) Temporarily install a new lock nut to the rear shock absorber.





(b) Adjust the rear suspension support so that the bolts come to the positions as shown in the illustration, and remove SST from the rear coil spring.

NOTICE:
^ Do not use an impact wrench.
^ Make sure that the width across flat on the piston rod end is located parallel to the shock absorber bush.
^ Make sure of the direction of the rear suspension support when removing SST.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
^ A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.





1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the rear shock absorber on the vehicle by installing the 3 nuts on the suspension support side.
Torque: 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE: When installing the shock absorber, make sure the lower coil spring bottom tip is on the vehicle's front side.





(b) Temporarily install the rear shock absorber lower side with a new nut and washer to the axle carrier.





(c) Tighten the new lock nut.
Torque: 27 N*m (275 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf)
2. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER CAP LH
(a) Install the cap with the 3 nuts to the shock absorber.
Torque: 14 N*m (143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)
3. CONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
4. CONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH
5. CONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH
6. STAKE REAR AXLE SHAFT LH NUT
7. INSTALL LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET
8. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR LH
9. INSTALL PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY
10. INSTALL ROOF SIDE GARNISH INNER LH
(a) Install the garnish for standard body.
(b) Install the garnish for long body.
11. INSTALL ROOF SIDE GARNISH INNER RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

12. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH LH
(a) Install the garnish for standard body.
(b) Install the garnish for long body.
13. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH

HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

14. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
(a) Install the scuff plate for standard body.
(b) Install the scuff plate for long body.
15. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

(a) Install the rear seatback for power seat.

(a) Install the rear seatback for power seat.
(b) Install the rear seatback for ottoman.
22. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY CENTER (for Power Seat)
23. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Install the seat cushion for power seat.
(b) Install the seat cushion for ottoman.
24. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install the seat cushion for power seat.
(b) Install the seat cushion for ottoman.
25. INSTALL REAR WHEEL HOUSE LH LINER
(a) Install the liner with the 3 screws, 11 nuts, 2 clips to the vehicle side.
26. INSTALL NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR





27. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
(a) Install the rear tires.
Torque: 119 to 161 N*m (1213 to 1642 kgf*cm, 88 to 119 ft.*lbf)
(b) Lower the vehicle and bounce it up and down several times to stabilize the rear suspension.
(c) Remove the rear tires.
(d) Jack up the axle carrier with a wooden block between the jack and axle carrier. Apply a load to the rear suspension so that the rear drive shaft assembly becomes level.





28. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Tighten the nut on the axle carrier.
Torque: 80 N*m (816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf)
29. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
30. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH
31. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

32. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 119 to 161 N*m (1213 to 1642 kgf*cm, 88 to 119 ft.*lbf)
33. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
(a) Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment.
34. CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
(a) Check the speed sensor signal.
35. VEHICLE PREPARATION FOR HEADLIGHT AIMING ADJUSTMENT
36. PREPARATION FOR HEADLIGHT AIMING (Using a screen)
37. HEADLIGHT AIMING INSPECTION

DISPOSAL





1. DISPOSE OF REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Fully extend the rear shock absorber rod.
(b) Using a drill, make a hole in the cylinder between A and B shown in the illustration to discharge the gas inside.

CAUTION: Be careful when drilling because shards of metal may fly about. Always use the proper safety equipment.

NOTICE: The gas is colorless, odorless and nonpoisonous.
