INSPECTION

1. INSPECT PNEUMATIC FRONT LH WITH SHOCK ABSORBER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
(a) Extend the pneumatic cylinder with shock absorber and check that it is as described below.
Standard: While extending the cylinder at a constant speed, the load is constant for each stroke and there is no abnormal feedback or noises. Also, the cylinder returns at a constant speed when extended.
If an abnormality is found, replace the pneumatic cylinder with shock absorber with a new one.

NOTICE: When extending the pneumatic cylinder with shock absorber front LH, do not block the air inlet/outlet opening.

(b) While adjusting the damping force control rod to hard, semi hard, medium, soft and semi soft, inspect the pneumatic front LH with shock absorber cylinder assembly by compressing and extending it.
Standard: There is a difference in the damping force.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
^ A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. INSTALL FRONT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER LH O-RING

HINT: It is unnecessary to perform the following procedures if the pneumatic cylinder with shock absorber has been replaced with a new one.

(a) Lightly coat 2 new O-rings with MP grease.

(b) Install the 2 new O-rings and a new plate to a straight tube or equivalent, as shown in the illustration.

(c) Insert the tube end with the 2 O-rings and plate into the pneumatic cylinder with shock absorber rear LH. Then, lightly push in the O-rings and plate with a thick piece of paper.

DISPOSAL

1. DISPOSE OF PNEUMATIC FRONT LH WITH SHOCK ABSORBER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
(a) Fully extend the front shock absorber rod.
(b) Using a drill, make a hole in the cylinder somewhere between A and B shown in the illustration to discharge the gas inside.

CAUTION: Be careful as the cylinder is a high-pressure gas type which is at a higher pressure than normal shock absorbers. Also be careful with high temperatures as the cylinder's pressure becomes even higher.

NOTICE: The gas is colorless, odorless and harmless.
