INTRODUCTION:
If it is necessary to replace the Navigation Display (Electro Multi-Vision with Navigation [EMVN]) on the 2007 model year LS 460, the customer's Hard Disc Drive (HDD) must be removed from the old unit and paired (initialized) to the new EMVN.
If it is necessary to install a new HDD only into a customer's EMVN unit, the new HDD must be paired (initialized) to the existing EMVN.
Follow the procedures in this bulletin to initialize the EMVN/HDD unit.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2007 model year LS 460 vehicles.

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE:
NOTE:
The EMVN or HDD CANNOT be swapped separately into another unit for troubleshooting purposes. These parts MUST be paired with a new or exchange unit. The EMVN and HDD unit can be installed into another vehicle ONLY AS A COMPLETE UNIT for diagnostic purposes.
CAUTION:
- Handle the EMVN using two hands whenever possible to avoid dropping or damaging the unit.
- Do NOT touch the HDD by the pins to avoid damage.
1. From the multi-information display, press I Agree.
2. Press the "MENU" button.
3. Press HDD Data.
4. Check the map version and CDDB version and record the versions on the Repair Order.
5. Turn ACC OFF.
6. Wait 5 minutes and then disconnect the battery before removing the EMVN.
7. Remove the EMVN.
8. Remove the 2 screws that hold the HDD cover using a tamper proof Torx T10 screwdriver (p/n T10CDR which is included in the HDD Connector Kit p/n 95079-00002-KIT-CAN).
9. Remove the HDD by slowly pulling the clear plastic tab.
10. Insert the HDD (either customer's or exchange) into the EMVN unit (either customer's or exchange).
11. Secure the HDD with the 2 screws.
12. Install the EMVN back into the dash.
13. Reconnect the battery.
14. Turn ACC ON.
15. Make sure the system reads the HDD.
16. Perform the EMVN's basic function check.
- Press the "MAP" button - Map is displayed.
- Press the "CLIMATE" button - Climate screen is displayed and functions.
- Press the "AUDIO" button - Audio screen is displayed and functions.
If the check is good, perform the HDD SMART Test.
HDD SMART TEST CHECK PROCEDURE:
1. Go to Diagnostic Mode by pressing the Display button and then 1 and 2 sequentially 3 times (i.e., press 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2).
2. Press the Menu button.
3. Press Navigation Check.
4. Press HDD Information.
5. Press SMART Test.
NOTE:
Once the SMART Test is started there is NO progress indicator. You MUST wait until the SMART Test results appear (dependent upon data size, results may take between 90 seconds to 5 minutes).
- If SMART Test is OK, the system is initialized and ready for service.
- If SMART Test result is NG, the HDD is damaged and MUST be replaced.
6. Turn the vehicle OFF.
7. Turn the vehicle ON.
8. From the multi-information display, press I Agree.
9. Press the "MENU" button.
10. Press HDD Data.
11. Verify the map version and CDDB version is the same version recorded on the Repair Order or later.
