Rear Upper Arm





REAR SUSPENSION: REAR UPPER ARM: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY

(a) Secure the rear No. 2 upper control arm assembly between aluminum plates in a vise.





(b) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.

(c) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.

Turning torque:

0.5 to 3.4 N*m (5.1 to 35 kgf*cm, 4.5 to 30 in.*lbf)

If the reading is not within the specified range, replace the rear No. 2 upper control arm with a new one.

(d) Check the dust boot for cracks or grease leaks.
