Valve Clearance: Adjustments
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.2. Remove the cylinder head cover.
Head Bolt Tightening Sequence:
3. Tighten the head bolts with a torque wrench to the specified torque in the order shown.
Cylinder head bolt tightening torque:
- Warm engine 95 - 100 N-m (69 - 72 ft-lb).
- Cold engine 82 - 88 N-m (59 - 64 ft-lb).
Valve Adjusting Sequence:
5. Set the piston of No.1 cylinder to top dead center (compression) and check the valve clearance at each position shown. Adjust, if the clearance deviates from the specified value.
Intake No.1 and No.2 cylinders.
Exhaust No.1 and No.3 cylinders.
Valve clearance:
- Valve side;
- Intake 0.30 mm (0.012 in)
- Exhaust 0.30 mm (0.012 in)
Cam side;
- Intake 0.22 mm (0.009 in)
- Exhaust 0.22 mm (0.009 in)
6. Turn the crankshaft once, thus setting the piston of No.4 cylinder at the top dead center (compression) and adjust the following valve;
- Intake No.3 and No.4 cylinders
- Exhaust No.2 and No.4 cylinders
7. Install the cylinder head cover.
