Engine Speed Unit

1. Connect a suitable voltmeter onto engine speed switch terminal.
2. Increase engine speed to approximately 2000 RPM, then gradually decrease engine speed.
3. Note engine speed at which the current flows to the circuit.
4. Engine speed should be 1600-1800 RPM on 1982-83 models and 1984 California models with automatic transmission or 1400-1600 RPM on 1984 exc. California models with automatic transmission.
5. Gradually increase engine speed and note speed at which the current stops flowing to the circuit
6. The difference between engine speed noted in steps 3 and 4 should be 150-250 RPM. If engine speeds are not as specified, replace engine speed switch.
