Disassembly and Reassembly
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove accelerating pump lever and throttle return spring, then disconnect vacuum tube from main body.
2. Disconnect solenoid valve and automatic choke heater electrical connectors from diaphragm cover.
3. Remove thermostat cover attaching screws, then the cover and gasket.
4. Remove clip and disconnect choke and rod.
5. Remove attaching screws and separate air horn from main body.
6. Remove accelerator pump piston assembly from main body.
7. Remove clip, then invert carburetor and slide out strainer and inlet check ball.
8. Remove screw and washer retaining pump check valve, then invert carburetor and remove check valve.
9. Remove slow cut fuel valve or solenoid valve from main body.
10. Remove attaching bolts, then separate throttle body from main body.
11. Remove fuel inlet bolt and washers from main body, then slide out needle valve, spring and valve stem.
12. Remove fuel bowl sight glass attaching screws, then the cover gasket, sight glass and rubber gasket.
13. Remove float lever pin collar and float.
14. Remove power valve, if equipped, from main body using a suitable driver.
15. Remove throttle lever assembly screw and bolt, then the throttle lever.
16. Remove retaining clip and disconnect diaphragm rod from secondary throttle shaft.
17. Remove secondary throttle lever attaching screw and the throttle lever.
18. Remove diaphragm body attaching screws and the diaphragm body.
19. Remove plugs and washers, then the air bleeds and jets, noting size of each so they may be installed in their original positions.
20. Remove mixture adjustment screw by turning and pulling out entire shell assembly or by cutting shell off with a suitable saw. A new adjustment screw and shell must be installed during assembly.
REASSEMBLY
To assemble carburetor, reverse disassembly procedure, noting the following:
1. Discard all old gaskets and replace with new ones.
2. Ensure all components are clean and in good condition.
3. Ensure all components are installed in corresponding barrels and are not intermixed.
4. When installing mixture adjusting screw, bottom screw, then back off 3 or 4 turns and install shell, if equipped. Do not install blind cap or spring until carburetor is installed and idle mixture properly adjusted.
