Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove horn cap.
2. Scribe marks on steering wheel and column shaft, then remove steering wheel retaining nut and the steering wheel.
3. Remove steering column cover, then the stop ring, cancel cam and spring from column shaft.
4. Disconnect combination switch wiring, then remove the combination switch.
5. Remove steering column support bracket retaining screws.
6. Remove floor cover and insulator pad from steering column.
7. Remove set plate bolts, then pull column jacket from steering shaft.
8. Remove yoke joint to worm shaft retaining bolt, then the steering shaft.
9. Remove air cleaner assembly.
10. If equipped with column shift, remove selection and shift rod from lower bracket, then disengage steering gear from bracket.
11. Disconnect brake lines and remove master cylinder.
12. Using a suitable puller, disconnect center link from pitman arm, then remove pitman arm.
13. Remove steering gear to frame retaining bolts and nuts, then the steering gear.
14. Reverse procedure to install.
