Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

1. Raise rear end of vehicle and place a stand under frame side rail, permitting spring to hang free.
2. Support rear axle in this position with jack.
3. Remove rear wheel.
4. Disconnect rear shock absorber at lower mounting point.
5. Remove U-bolt nuts and spring clamp, Fig. 5.
6. Remove spring pin nut and the two bolts and nuts attaching the spring pin plate to the frame bracket.
7. Remove spring pin and the front end of spring from vehicle. Remove rubber bushings.
8. Remove shackle pin nuts and the shackle plate. Remove rear end of the spring from vehicle. Remove rubber bushings.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
