Measure end clearance of piston rings





















1. Use the 13-1 feeler gage to measure end clearance of compression rings between compression ring and mounting groove in the piston; replace compression rings or piston, if necessary.
The end clearance of the oil scraper ring cannot be checked because of its three-part design. If the compression rings are replaced, the oil scraper ring must also be replaced.
