SUBJECT: A/C SWITCH INSTALLATION ON ECLIPSE MANUAL CHANGE

MODEL 1990 ECLIPSE

PURPOSE The 1990 Eclipse A/C installation manual steps 4 and 5 incorrectly describe how to install the dash panel switch. This bulletin describes a corrected procedure for steps 4 and 5. As a reference to this bulletin, please cross out steps 4 and 5 in the A/C installation manual. Detach and place the attached sheet with the revised steps 4 and 5 between pages 14 and 15.

AFFECTED MANUAL 1990 Eclipse Air Conditioner Installation Manual MSSP-MF-90 Pages 13 & 14, steps 4 and 5.

DETAILS OF CHANGE The manual currently describes installing the A/C switch from the front of the dash panel by pulling the switch wiring harness through the switch hole. However, the switch wiring harness is not long enough to do this; the switch must be guided through the hole and held while the harness is connected to it from the back side. The attached sheet describes the correct procedure and should be placed in the A/C installation manual as directed.

4. A/C SWITCH

a. Remove the 3 screw covers and screws from the passenger side of the center console and remove the side panel.

b. Reach behind the support bracket and locate the A/C harness. Push out the blind cap and disconnect the harness from the blind cap.

FIGURE 13:

c. While holding the A/C harness, partially insert the A/C switch into the heater control panel and connect the harness. Then lock the A/C switch into the heater control panel.


Make sure that the switch is properly positioned.


Reinstall the following parts that were temporarily removed:

a: Reinforcement b: Glove Box c: Under Cover (Only for Equipped Models) d: Replace side panel, screws, and caps.
