Body - Moisture In Front Turn Signals
90mitsubishi07 SUBJECT:MOISTURE IN ECLIPSE FRONT TURN SIGNALS
NO. TSB-90-54-005
DATE April, 1990
MODEL 1990 Eclipse
PURPOSE
Moisture can sometimes accumulate inside the front turn signal lights. By removing the rubber grommets from the harness connector at the turn signal, a vent is created which allows air to circulate inside the tum signal housing, thus preventing moisture buildup.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
All Eclipse models through March 1989. Vehicles manufactured since that date do not have grommets installed in the connector.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Normal warranty procedures apply.
PROCEDURE
This procedure should be performed on both front turn signals, even if only one turn signal REMOVE GROMMETS has moisture inside.
1. Remove both turn signal assemblies.
Figure 1:
2. From each of the turn signal harness connectors, remove the three grommets using a pick or small flat blade screw driver (see Figure 1). Be careful to avoid damaging the harness.
3. Replace any turn signal assemblies that have moisture inside with a new assembly (Right: MB597764, Left: MB597763). Install the turn signal assemblies and verify that the turn signals are operating correctly.
