PURPOSE
This bulletin provides repair procedures for 1990 Eclipse vehicles manufactured before May 18, 1990 when the left headlight does not retract. This condition may occur as a result of a poor connection within the engine compartment wiring harness between the Blue/Red wire and the left headlight pop-up motor. When this occurs, the connection must be repaired. In addition, the passing control relay must be replaced with a new service relay.

8. Remove the tie straps holding the wiring harness to the body. Remove the tape to expose the open side of the corrugated tubing.
9. Pull the wires out of the corrugated protector. Locate the taped connection on the blue wfth red tracer wire. Remove the black electrical tape from the connection.
10. Cut the damaged or corroded connector from the wiring harness. Solder the wires together using rosin core solder. It may be necessary to solder in a small jumper wire to keep the wiring harness wires at the correct length.
CAUTION: Do not use solderless-crimpon-connectors for this repair.

11. Cover the soldered connection with electrical tape.
12. Place the wires back into the corrugated tubing and retape the tubing.
13. Resecure the wiring harness with the removed tie wraps. Reinstall the pop-up motor and reconnect the link to the headlight door assembly. Reverse the order of removal to reinstall the removed parts.
14. Remove the left kick panel. Replace the passing control relay with the new service part number (Figure 7). Reinstall the left kick panel.
