Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove the timing belt.
2. Follow the removal procedure outlined in the illustration, noting the following:
CAUTION: Do not nick the shaft seal surface or seal bore.
3. Using crankshaft sprocket remover tool No. MB995027, or equivalent, remove crankshaft sprocket.
4. Use the crankshaft seal remover tool No. MB995020, or equivalent, to remove the crankshaft front oil seal. Be careful not to damage the seal surface of cover.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
2. Use the crankshaft seal installer tool No. MB995020, or equivalent, to align the oil seal with the cover.
3. Use the crankshaft damper/sprocket installer tool Nos. MB995035 and MB995026, or equivalents, to install the crankshaft sprocket.
