Idle Up Control Valve: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
To increase idle speed when air conditioning is on.

OPERATION
When the air conditioning is on, the Idle Air Control - Fast Idle Control Device (IAC-FICD) Valve allows additional air to bypass the throttle plate; adjusting idle speed to the increased load.

CONSTRUCTION
The Idle Up Control Valve is one of three valves incorporated in the Idle Air Control System. It consists of a solenoid body, plunger needle and spring.
