W/O Fuel Pump Notification

OWNER'S LETTER [without Fuel Pump Notification]

Dear Nissan Altima Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Nissan has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety may exist in your vehicle.

Reason For Recall

At extremely low temperatures, engine movement may pull the throttle cable out of the guide mounted on the rear wall of the engine compartment. If the end of the cable housing remains out of position, this may prevent the throttle from returning to the idle position. The driver may experience abnormal engine idle speed or, while driving, the vehicle may not slow at a normal rate when the gas, pedal is released. This could result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash.

What You Should Do

Contact your Nissan Dealer as soon as possible to arrange an appointment to have your Nissan Altima corrected free of charge. The correction will involve re-positioning the throttle cable to provide additional slack for engine movement. In addition, the throttle cable will be inspected for damage and, if necessary, replaced.

The service will take about one hour, but your Dealer may require your Altima for a longer period of time, based on his work schedule. If you are unable to wait for this repair and require alternate transportation, you will be provided with a free loaner car. Please bring this notice with you when you keep your service appointment. Instructions have been sent to your Nissan Dealer.

If the Dealer fails, or is unable to make the necessary repairs at no charge to you, you may contact the National Consumer Affairs Office, Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A. at P.O.
