Trunk Compartment Inspection
Wheel House Template (use when corrosion is present on inner wheel house)1. Remove the clear acetate template supplied with this bulletin. Using a razor blade or scissors, cut the template along the outer dotted lines. Since this template is the actual size of the wheel house area, it is important to cut as close to the dotted lines as possible. This will allow the template to fit into proper position for inspection.
2. Place the lower curved edge of the template to the upper portion of the wheel house. Line up the solid line (outer edge of the 10 mm area) to the outer edge of the wheelhouse. Make sure the locating holes on the template line up with the locating holes in the wheel house panel.
3. Inspect the 10 mm area between the lines. If no perforation is found within the 10 mm area, perform Operation 4, Install Seat Belt Anchor Plate, as outlined in NTB96-034. If there is any perforation within the 10 mm area, perform Operation 5, Replace Complete Wheel House, as outlined in NTB96-034. (IWS approval is still required before beginning repairs on Operation 5 repairs only.)
NOTE:
Dealers that encounter vehicles having body damage, modifications, or extensive corrosion beyond the wheel house area should notify their regional office before attempting to perform the campaign procedures.
