DTC 76 Data Line Signal Or Circuit Malfunction:

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The EBTCM shares specific serial data information supplied on the data line. The data line also allows the use of a bi-directional scan tool such as a Tech 1.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
A current DTC 76 cannot be read with a Tech 1 due to the loss of serial data communications. After data line communications are restored, DTC 76 will be stored in memory.

TECH 1 DIAGNOSTICS
Important
^ On some early production vehicles, DTC 76 (UART SDL circuit or signal malfunction) may set if the TECH 1 is unplugged from the DLC during data list or test functions. This condition can be avoided by backing out to the main menu screen (the screen shown when the TECH 1 is first plugged in) before unplugging the TECH 1.
