Engine Removal and Installation
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Drain cooling system and oil from crankcase.
3. Relieve fuel system pressure.
4. Recover refrigerant from A/C system.
5. Disconnect fuel feed and return lines.
6. Disconnect vacuum harness from rear of intake.
7. Disconnect engine wire harness at bulkhead.
8. Disconnect coolant hoses from overflow reservoir.
9. Remove upper radiator hose from coolant crossover.
10. Remove lower radiator hose at thermostat housing.
11. Disconnect upper transaxle cooler hose at radiator.
12. Disconnect lower transaxle cooler hose at transaxle.
13. Remove heater hoses from coolant pipes at rear of engine.
14. Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose.
15. Remove shift control cable retaining bracket from transaxle.
16. Remove shift control cable from lever on transaxle.
17. Remove vacuum reservoir.
18. Disconnect vacuum and electrical connectors at cruise control servo.
19. Install engine support fixture.
20. Disconnect positive battery cable at junction block.
21. Remove through bolt from front engine mount.
22. Remove front engine mount bolts from front plate.
23. Disconnect battery ground cable from engine block.
24. Raise and support vehicle.
25. Remove both front wheels.
26. Remove right and left splash shields.
27. Disconnect steering gear electrical connector.
28. Remove cotter pin from lefthand side ball joint, then separate ball joint from steering knuckle.
29. Remove hub assembly from left axle shaft.
30. Remove exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold attaching bolts and nuts, then separate exhaust system from exhaust manifold.
31. Remove engine oil cooler hoses at adapter.
32. Remove engine to transaxle brace.
33. Remove flywheel cover.
34. Remove flywheel to converter bolts.
35. Remove oil cooler adapter from engine block.
36. Disconnect A/C hose and muffler from rear of A/C compressor.
37. Position cradle support table under engine and lower vehicle.
38. Remove left transaxle mount.
39. Support front of lower engine with a block of wood.
40. Release engine support.
41. Remove engine cradle bolts.
42. Raise vehicle and remove engine and transaxle assembly from under vehicle.
43. Reverse procedure to install. When refilling cooling system refer to cooling system bleed procedure under Cooling System/Service and Repair
