Ignition Lock Cylinder

Remove or Disconnect

1. Do steps 1 through 5, "Remove or Disconnect", UPPER COVER LOWER COVER.Service and Repair
NOTICE: If removing ignition lock actuator assembly or lock bolt assembly it is not necessary to remove pass key wire harness. Let lock cylinder set hang freely and do steps 5 and 6.
2. Steering column lock cylinder set.
A. Turn lock cylinder to "RUN" position.
B. Push against locking button on back side of bearing & housing assembly and remove lock cylinder.
C. Lock pre-load spring.

3. Pass key wire harness from column.
A. Bulkhead connector from vehicle wire harness.
B. Grey turn signal switch connector from bulkhead connector.
C. 17-way secondary lock from turn signal switch connector.
D. Two pass key terminals from cavities 16 and 17 of grey turn signal switch connector.
E. Pass key wire harness from wire harness strap and two securing locations.
^ Turn signal & multifunction switch
^ Upper head housing assembly
F. Wiring protector.

4. Ignition lock actuator assembly from upper head housing assembly with needle nose pliers.
5. Lock bolt assembly.
A. Do steps 6 through 11, "Remove or Disconnect", UPPER COVER LOWER COVER.
B. Do steps 2 through 5 "Remove or Disconnect", SIR COIL ASSEMBLY.
C. Do steps 2 through 4 "Remove or Disconnect", UPPER HEAD HOUSING COMPONENTS.
D. Two pan head tapping screws.
E. Lock bolt support bracket.
F. Lock bolt from housing assembly.
Install or Connect
1. Lock bolt assembly and upper head housing components to upper head housing assembly.
A. Lock bolt assembly.
B. Lock bolt support bracket.
C. Two tapping screws.
^ Seat upper tapping screw first and lower screw second.
Tighten
^ Tighten two screws to 3.4 Nm (30 lb.in.).
2. Ignition lock actuator assembly to housing assembly.
A. End of lock bolt flush with support bracket.
B. Ignition lock actuator assembly to housing assembly.
C. Rotate actuator counterclockwise until it pushes out lock bolt and actuator seat into housing assembly.
D. Rotate actuator clockwise to "RUN" position.
3. Do steps 5 through 7 "Install or Connect" UPPER HEAD HOUSING COMPONENTS.
4. Do steps 1 through 4, "Install or Connect", SIR COIL ASSEMBLY.
5. Do steps 1 through 6, "Install or Connect", UPPER COVER LOWER COVER.
6. Steering column lock cylinder set.
^ Key installed in lock cylinder.
^ Ensure sector is in "RUN" position.
^ Line up locking tab with slot in housing assembly and push into position.
^ Lock pre-load spring to housing assembly.
7. Pass key wire harness to column.
A. Secure wire harness to housing assembly and multifuntion switch and route through wire harness strap.
B. Two terminals to cavities 16 and 17 in grey turn signal switch connector (cavities optional).
C. 17-way secondary lock to turn signal switch connector.
D. Grey turn signal switch connector to bulkhead connector.
E. Bulkhead connector to vehicle wire harness.
F. Wiring protector.
8. Do steps 7 through 11, "Install or Connect", UPPER COVER LOWER COVER.
