Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURETOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System.
^ J 38042 Dual O-ring Joint Separator
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the underhand relay center.
4. Remove the accumulator bracket retaining screw (3).
5. Remove the right wheel house liner.
6. Remove the lower fitting from the accumulator (1).
7. Remove the upper fitting from the accumulator (1).
8. Remove the accumulator (1) and the bracket (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector
1. Position the accumulator (1) into the bracket (2).
2. Place the bracket into the vehicle.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Connect the upper fitting to the accumulator (1).
Tighten
Tighten the accumulator connection to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
4. Connect the lower fitting to the accumulator (1).
Tighten
Tighten the accumulator connection to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Install the accumulator bracket retaining screw (3).
Tighten
Tighten the accumulator retention screw to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
6. Install the underhood relay center.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
8. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
9. Using the J 39400-A leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing.
10. Install the right wheel house liner.
