Coolant Temperature Information

The powertrain control module (PCM) provides coolant temperature information to the instrument cluster through the universal asynchronous receiving/transmitting (UART) serial data line. The instrument cluster provides the data to the driver information center (DIC) through the UART B serial data line. The DEC displays the coolant temperature. If the coolant temperature exceeds 127° C (261° F) the HOT... STOP ENGINE warning is displayed.
