Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the bolt (6) that secures the clamp of the inlet hose (1) to the alternator bracket.
2. Disconnect the connector (4) to power steering pressure sensor switch (5).
3. Remove two nuts (3) securing the clamps of the outlet hose (2) to the alternator mounting.
4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the front splash shield.
6. Remove the wheel splash shield.





7. Remove the following components:
- The bolts (4)
- The retainers (3)

8. Remove the alternator frame brace bolts.
9. Remove the alternator frame brace.
10. Disconnect the connections at the following locations:
- The gear
- The pump

11. Disconnect the hoses (1,2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Connect the hoses (1,2) into place.
2. Connect the connections at the following locations:
- The gear
- The pump

3. Install the alternator frame brace.
4. Install the alternator frame brace bolts.
5. Install the following components:
- The retainers (3)
- The bolts (4)
- Tighten the retainer bolts (4) to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
- Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump, to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear, to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Install the wheel splash shield.
7. Install the front splash shield.
8. Lower the vehicle.





9. Install the bolt (6) that secures the clamp of the inlet hose (1) to the alternator bracket.
10. Connect the connector (4) to the power steering pressure sensor switch (5).
11. Install two nuts (3) securing the clamps of the outlet hose (2) to the alternator mounting.
12. Fill the system.
13. Bleed the system. Refer to Brake Bleeding.
14. Inspect the power steering system for leaks.
