Rear Coil Spring Insulators Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE- Tools Required
- J24319-01 Universal Steering Linkage Puller
1. Raise and support the vehicle so that the control arm hangs freely. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
3. Support the control arm with a jack stand.
4. Remove the ELC air tube from the shock.
5. Remove the two bolts securing the shock to the control arm.
6. Remove the hex nut.
7. Separate the adjustment link from the knuckle using the J24319-B.
Notice: When separating a linkage joint, DO NOT try to disengage the joint by driving a wedge between the joint and the attached part. Seal Damage may result.
8. Slowly lower the control arm onto the support assembly.
9. Pry under the lower spring insulator. Remove the spring with the insulator.
10. Remove the jounce bumper, if necessary, by pulling downward.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the jounce bumper by inserting the retainer into the body of the vehicle.
2. Install the spring and the lower insulator. Ensure that the insulator is seated in the control arm.
3. Raise the control arm. Install two shock bolts to the control arm.
Tighten the shock bolts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the adjustment link to the control arm.
Tighten the nut to 50 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the ELC air tube to the shock.
6. Install the tire and the wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower the vehicle.
