Conditions For Wheel Replacement
Notice: The use of non-GM original equipment wheels may cause:^ Damage to the wheel bearing, the wheel fasteners and the wheel
^ Tire damage caused by the modified clearance to the adjacent vehicle components.
^ Adverse vehicle steering stability caused by the modified scrub radius.
^ Damage to the vehicle caused by the modified ground clearance.
^ Speedometer and odometer inaccuracy.
Important: Replacement wheels must be equivalent to the original equipment wheels in load capacity, diameter, rim width, offset and mounting configuration. A wheel of improper size or type may affect the wheel and bearing life, the brake cooling, the speedometer/ odometer calibration, the vehicle ground clearance and the tire clearance to the body and the chassis.
Replace wheels under the following conditions:
^ The wheels are bent or dented.
^ The wheels have excessive radial runout.
^ The wheels leak air through the wheel welds.
^ The wheels have elongated bolt holes.
^ The wheel nuts do not stay tight.
^ The wheels are very rusty.
Wheels with excessive runout may cause objectionable vibrations.
Steel wheels are identified by a two or three letter code stamped into the rim near the valve stem. Aluminum wheels have the code, part number, and manufacturer ID cast into their back side.
