Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. Remove the complete exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Description in Exhaust System.
3. Remove the exhaust Y pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement in Exhaust System.
4. Remove the steering gear retaining bolts from the left side of the gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
5. Remove the through bolt from the right side of the steering gear.
6. Remove the retaining clamp from the power steering lines. Set aside the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
7. Support the transmission with a jackstand.
8. Remove the right-side transmission mount-to-bracket bolt.
9. Remove the rear transmission mount-to-frame bolts.
10. Remove the right-side transmission mount and bracket.
11. Support the rear of the frame with a jackstand.
12. Remove the rear frame bolts.
13. Lower the frame in order to gain clearance.
14. Remove the following parts:
^ 4th servo cover
^ Piston
^ Pin
^ Seals

Installation Procedure
1. Install the following parts:
^ 4th servo seals
^ Pin
^ Piston
^ Cover

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

^ Tighten the screws to 14 Nm (124 inch lbs.).
2. Raise the frame. Install the rear frame bolts.
3. Install the right-side transmission bracket and mount.
4. Install the right-side transmission mount-to-bracket through bolt.
5. Install the steering gear into position. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
6. Install the retaining clamp to the power steering lines. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
7. Install the through bolt to the right side of the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Replacement in Steering and Suspension.
8. Install the steering gear retaining bolts.
9. Install the exhaust Y pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement in Exhaust System.
10. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Description in Exhaust System.
11. Lower the vehicle.
