Exhaust Muffler Hangers Replacement (Rear)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
Notice: To prevent internal damage to the flexible coupling of the catalytic converter assembly, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter assembly must not exceed 6° up or down.
2. Suitably support the exhaust system.
3. Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger insulators.
4. Inspect the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket for serviceability. Repair or replace as necessary.
5. Remove the rear bumper impact bar bolts.
6. Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Replace the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket if removed.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the rear bumper impact bar bolts.
^ Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the exhaust muffler rear hanger insulators.
4. Remove the support from the exhaust system.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
