Inadvertent Load (Battery Rundown) Protection

The BCM has a feature called inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection. The BCM de-energizes circuit 1732 18-22 minutes after the ignition switch has been turned form the accessory or on position to the off position.

The BCM restores power to circuit 1732 when:
^ Turning the ignition switch from the off position to the accessory or on position
^ Removing the key from the ignition lock cylinder.
^ Opening any vehicle door.
^ Turning the I/P lamp dimmer switch to the DOME position.
^ The BCM receives a message from the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver.

IMPORTANT: The inadvertent battery power rundown protection feature is mileage-sensitive. The vehicles with less than 15 (+/-1.5) total driven miles have a 3 minute (+/-18 seconds) time-out instead of 10 minutes.
