Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

EVAP CANISTER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in Service Precautions.

2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the driver side rear wheel and the housing liner.
4. Disconnect the hoses from canister. Mark the hoses to ensure correct installation on the new canister.

IMPORTANT: Inspect the canister hoses for damage or deterioration. Refer to the Emission Hose Routing Diagram for proper routing of the canister hoses. When replacing the lines, use the correct replacement part.




5. Remove the canister bracket retaining bolt.
6. Remove the canister.





INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the canister.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Tighten the canister bracket bolt.
3. Connect the hoses to the canister. Ensure the connections are correct.
4. Reinstall the driver side housing liner and the wheel assembly.

Tighten
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N.m (104 lb ft).

5. Lower the vehicle
6. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
