Trailing Arm: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

^ Tools Required
- J 36660 Torque Angle Meter

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the Tires and Wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
3. Disconnect the ABS electrical harness.





4. Disconnect the trailing arm (1) from the knuckle.
5. Remove the trailing arm bracket-to-body bolts.
6. Disconnect the trailing arm from the trailing arm bracket (2).
7. Remove the trailing arm (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Connect the trailing arm (1) to the trailing arm bracket (2).

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the bracket bolt/screw and nut.
^ Tighten the bracket nut to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
3. Position the trailing arm bracket to the body.
4. Install bracket mounting bolts.
^ Tighten the trailing arm bracket to body bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect the trailing arm to the knuckle.
^ Tighten the trailing arm to knuckle nut to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.) +65 degrees
6. Connect the ABS electrical harness.
7. Install the Tires and Wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
8. Lower the vehicle.
