7. Remove the solenoid screens.

Installation Procedure

Notice: The assembly of some components will require the use of an assembly lube. Always use J 36850 Transjel (R) or petroleum jelly during assembly. Greases other than the recommended assembly lube will change the transmission fluid characteristics and cause undesirable shift conditions and/or filter clogging.

1. In order to retain the checkballs in their proper locations, use the J 36850 or equivalent petroleum jelly.
2. install the solenoid screens, if necessary.
3. Install the spacer plate and the spacer plate gaskets, as necessary.

4. Install the valve body and the valve body gasket.

5. Install the valve body to channel plate bolts (1,2 and 3) to specifications.

Notice: Use a torque wrench to tighten the pump to valve body bolts. Do not exceed the torque specifications.

Notice: Install all the valve body bolts, then torque the bolts in a spiral pattern starting from the center, as shown. If you torque the bolts at random, you may distort the valve bores. This will inhibit valve operation.

Important Do not use impact type tools on the valve body or the pump assembly.

6. Install the oil pump.

7. Install the wiring harness.
8. Install the case side cover.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
10. Adjust the oil level.
