Lock Cylinder Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment Door

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the IP compartment handle. Refer to Handle Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment (Instrument Panel Compartment - Handle Replacement) .




2. Insert the key into the IP compartment door lock cylinder.
3. Insert a small diameter tool into the slot on the upper side of the door handle cylinder housing and depress and hold the lock cylinder retainer.
4. While the lock cylinder retainer is still depressed, turn the key 1/4 turn counterclockwise.
5. Pull to remove the lock cylinder.



Installation Procedure

1. If installing a new lock cylinder. Refer to Key and Lock Cylinder Coding in General Information.




2. Insert the key into the lock cylinder.
3. Align the lock cylinder in the same position used for removal. Push the cylinder in place to seat fully.
4. Turn the key 1/4 turn clockwise to secure the lock cylinder retainer.
5. Remove the key from the lock cylinder.
6. Inspect the operation of the lock cylinder.
The lock cylinder should only allow a 1/4 turn and should be securely retained in the door handle.
7. Install the IP compartment handle. Refer to Handle Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment (Instrument Panel Compartment - Handle Replacement) .
