Owner Notification and Service Procedure
Owner Notification and Service SchedulingAll involved vehicle owners known to Chrysler are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. The owners are requested to contact their dealers to schedule appointments for the service. A copy of the notification letter is attached.
Enclosed with each letter is a Claim Form, #83-295-0018, (11/84). The owner is instructed to give the form to the dealer when delivering the car for service. Copy 1 contains owner and dealer procedures and a Parts Return Tag. Copy 2 is for the dealer claim and Copy 3 for dealer records.
Please give your full support to this important program by serving all involved owners promptly and courteously.
Service Procedure
Note: A drill, 7/16" bit and diagonal cutters will be needed to complete this service.
A. Install air cleaner grommet.
1. Remove the air cleaner cover and remove the air filter element from it.
2. Clamp the cover carefully in vise.

3. Drill 7/16 inch hole in the right side of the cover directly above the carburetor duty cycle solenoid as shown in Figure 1.
4. Remove grommet from the end of supplied air bleed control valve harness and insert it into drilled hole in the cover.
5. After removing any metal shavings from the cover, reinstall the air filter element.
6. Reinstall air cleaner cover.

B. Install supplied air bleed control valve harness (Figure 2). Harness is assembled as provided and requires connection to existing components as described below:
1. Insert in-line harness connector into grommet on air cleaner cover.
2. Remove hose from PCV valve nipple and insert large harness tee in end of PCV hose.
3. Connect short harness hose to PCV valve nipple.
4. Locate the yellow striped CVSCC vacuum hose at the front of the carburetor. Cut the smaller diameter yellow stripe hose approximately 2-1/2 inches forward of the reducing connector. See Figure 2.
5. Install small harness tee into cut ends ofthe hose.
C. Install the Recall Completion Label (California vehicles only)
1. With a ballpoint pen, print your dealer code (5 digits) on the owner supplied Recall Completion Label.
2. Peel the label from its backing and apply it next to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Label.
