A/T - A404 Transaxle Remains in Drive or Reverse

TSB: 85-16

DATE: 1-1-85

SUBJECT: A-4O4

COMPLAINT:
Transaxle remains in drive or reverse when the shift lever is moved to any position

CAUSE:
The cause can be that the rooster comb has come out of the manual valve, resulting in the transaxle staying in the gear where it was last placed.

CORRECTION:
The correction is to add one extra washer on the manual shaft underneath the "E" clip that retains it to the TV shaft. The added washer will hold the shaft down into the manual valve. Be sure to drop the pan and index the rooster comb back into the manual valve.
