Fig 1 Hall Effect Distributor:

DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove rotor from shaft and disconnect pick up electrical connector.
2. On all 1980-82 models, remove Hall effect pick up retaining clips.
3. On 1981 models, remove splash shield screws, then the splash shield.
4. Remove Hall Effect Pick-up Assembly.
5. Remove distributor drive gear roll pin using punch, then remove drive gear, Fig. 1.
6. Remove drive gear thrust washer and distributor shaft.
7. Remove distributor to block seal.

ASSEMBLY
1. Lubricate distributor housing bushings with engine oil, then install engine seal onto distributor housing.
2. Install distributor shaft thrust washer onto distributor shaft, then install shaft into distributor housing.
3. Install distributor drive gear thrust washer, then install distributor drive ear onto distributor shaft.
4. Install drive gear roll pin using punch.
5. On 1980-82 models, position Hall effect pickup in distributor and connect electrical connector, then install retaining clips.
6. Press rotor onto shaft, ensuring that rotor is fully seated.
