Diesel Data: Automotive Repair

Unit List, VECI Label, Part & Owner Notify Info

Vehicle List

Each dealer to whom involved vehicles were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive a listing of them with this letter, arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved vehicles.

Each California dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter for use in performing the service on other involved vehicles upon request.

Emissions Label Requirement

There is a California Air Resources Board requirement to affix a label to the vehicle to certify that the emissions recall was completed. Accordingly, sufficient labels are enclosed with each Vehicle List for the cars involved. When the service has been completed, use a ball point pen to print your dealer code on the label. Peel the label from the backing and affix it to the radiator yoke next to the Vehicle Emissions Control Information Label.

Additional labels may be ordered without charge from your Zone Service Office if needed. Ask for Recall #388 Service Completion Label.
Parts

Some cars may require a new EGR valve as defined in the Service Procedure. Order it from your Parts Depot at dealer cost as needed, using the applicable Service Part Number.

A 25% dealer parts allowance will be provided for replacement parts, as explained in the Completion Reporting and Reimbursement section of this letter.

Owner Notification and Service Scheduling

All involved vehicle owners known to Chrysler are being notified of the service requirement by first class mall. The owners are requested to make appointments with Chrysler Corporation dealers for the required service. A copy of the notification letter is attached.

Enclosed with each letter is a Claim Form, #83-295-0018, (11/84). Owners are instructed to give the forms to their dealers at the time of service. Copy 1 contains owner and dealer procedures and a Parts Return Tag. Copy 2 is for the dealer claim and Copy 3 for dealer records.

Claim Forms for vehicles whose owners are not known to Chrysler will be mailed to the dealers to whom the vehicles were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) for dealer follow-up.

Please give your full support to this important program by serving all involved owners promptly and courteously.
