8A Canister Purge Solenoid (Code 31)

1. With diagnostic read-out tool connected to engine test connector, connect a voltmeter between pink/white wire of canister purge solenoid connector and ground, then place system in ATM test mode 07.
2. If voltmeter reading is within one volt of battery voltage and reading is not cycling, proceed to Test 8 step B.
3. If voltmeter reading is cycling between 0 and 5 volts, proceed to Test 8 step C.
4. If voltmeter indicates one volt or less and is not cycling, disconnect logic module black electrical connector and note voltmeter reading. If voltmeter reading is now within 1 volt of battery voltage, replace logic module. If voltmeter reading is not within 1 volt of battery voltage, check pink/white wire for short circuit to ground.
5. If voltmeter is cycling and the solenoid clicks, check for a poor connection in the circuit.
