16-Step A, Distributor Pickup Coil Circuit (Codes 11/12)

1. Place ignition switch in the OFF position.
2. Disconnect distributor pick-up coil electrical connector.
3. Disconnect secondary ignition coil lead from distributor cap and position approximately 1/4 inch from a good engine ground.
4. Place ignition switch in the RUN position.
5. Connect a jumper wire between pick-up coil electrical connector terminal with orange wire and terminal with gray wire. Make and break this connection several times while observing ignition coil secondary wire.
6. If spark is present at coil wire, proceed to Test 16 step B.
7. If spark is not present at coil secondary coil wire, proceed to Test 16 step C.
