SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Excessive deck lid remote release lever effort (above 13 pounds) on subject model vehicles can be resolved by using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Check cable routing for correct installation.

2. Check latch for correct cable attachment..

3. Check cable for binding.

4. If the above steps fail to reduce the excessive effort, remove the two (2) latch mounting bolts, and insert a 5/16" flat washer, PN 0120393, between the latch and the inner sheetmetal mounting surface, at the mounting bolt hole on each side (Figure 1).
5. Install and tighten mounting bolts to 200 inch pounds.

6. Check operation. If release lever effort is still above 13 pounds, replace the latch assembly.
