SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Metal-to-metal contact noise from front strut area while driving.

DIAGNOSIS

Road test vehicle listening for a metal-to-metal contact noise from the front suspension, especially noticeable when cornering and rough road surfaces.

2 Rubber Insulator PN MB518268


REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:
THIS PROCEDURE SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR 1985 AND 1986 COLT VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE AUGUST 22, 1985.

This repair procedure is to replace the original rubber insulator used in each front strut with a new rubber insulator, which is modified internally to prevent movement of the strut stopper plate.

1. Refer to the front strut service procedures in Group 02 of the appropriate service manual.

2. Remove and disassemble the strut as outlined in the service manual.

3. Inspect stopper for damage, and replace if damaged.

4. Reassemble strut using new insulator, PN MB518268, and reinstall in vehicle as outlined in the appropriate service manual.
