Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

1. Relieve fuel system pressure as follows:
a. Remove rear seat cushion and pull back carpet.
b. Start engine and disconnect fuel pump connector.
c. When engine stops from lack of fuel, turn off ignition and disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove fuel tank cap, raise and support rear of vehicle and drain fuel into suitable container.
3. Disconnect filler hose from tank, support tank with suitable jack and remove nuts securing tank straps.
4. Lower fuel tank, then mark and disconnect fuel hoses, vapor hoses and electrical connectors.
5. Remove nuts securing fuel pump assembly, then the fuel pump and gasket.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
