Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay: Testing and Inspection

On Colt and Colt Hatchback models, the fan relay is located in the relay box which is installed on the left side toe board behind the corner panel. On Colt Vista models, the relay box is located on the right front wheel house.

1. With relay disconnected, use suitable ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals 1 and 2. Continuity should exist.
2. Check continuity between terminals 3 and 4. Continuity should not exist.
3. Using 12 volt battery, apply positive voltage to terminal 1 and negative to terminal 2, then check continuity between terminals 3 and 4. Continuity should exist.
4. If relay performance is not satisfactory, replace as necessary.
